The Location :-
Thiruvalla is on the western border of Pathanamthitta District. Formerly some areas of present Changanacherry were parts of Thiruvalla. Now the boundaries of the taluk are Varattar Bridge on the south, Lappalam on the north, Pullad on the east and Edathua on the west.

The name :-
Thiruvalla (previously spelled Tiruvalla) is famous for its various religious festivals, schools etc. It is also the location of Nedumpuram Palace and Paliakkara Palace.The ancient name of Thiruvalla was "Valla vai". The name had some relation with the river Manimala which was known as "Vallapuzha". The mouth is known as "Valla vai".    More....
